In the areas where SHOUHARDO III works, there has been a chronic issue on the presence of arsenic and coliform in water found in the areas of Kishoreganj, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Kurigram and Sirajganj districts. In order to address this, the program mobilized Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Local Service Providers (LSPs) to conduct regular water testing, as well as coordinating with the government’s Department of Public Health Engineering through the support of Union Parishads. SHOUHARDO III also conducts community group discussions to sensitize its participants on the importance of accessing clean water. In the photo, Sabnur from Kewrakandi, village in Habiganj district is performing an Arsenic test on a tube well water sample. She shared, “Despite being a woman, I can build my capacity and provide Arsenic testing and tube-well repairing services to my community. I am grateful that SHOUHARDO III gave me this opportunity to create a change in my community.”
