To Increase equitable access to income for both women and men, and ensuring nutritious food for women, men, adolescents, and children of SHOUHARDO III program participants, several on-farm and non-farm capacity building initiatives are being undertaken. Which occupation the participants will engage in depend on their capacities, interests and factoring in the potential opportunities for income generation and expansion within their local market. The capacity of the participants is enhanced as the Local Service Providers (LSPs) from the private and public sectors support them especially those who are in the far-flung areas. Women and youth are especially targeted for these interventions.

Considering the minimal financial capacity of the program participants; SHOUHARDO III provided a startup capital of BDT 3,000 (USD $35) to the poor and BDT 4,000 (USD $47) to the extreme poor households.
“Until I got the input support, it was beyond my knowledge that a woman can earn as much as I was earning by raring chicken and ducks. After receiving the knowledge and the cash support from SHOUHARDO, I started my business. With time, this simple support turned to the source of my family’s regular income.”
